We hired Dunstun to take our party of four up Mt. Kenya over a five-night itinerary. He and his crew of 10 (including Chief, his co-guide, Alfred the chef, and 8 porters--Frances, Anderson, Elijah, Humphrey, Edwin, Jackson, Morris, and Eric) were absolutely outstanding. Dunstun was very accommodating when one of us had to turn back due to sickness, and he also was flexible and enabled our immediate return to town after summiting (one night short) due to concerns over demonstrations in Nairobi and how it would impact our transportation back. He and his crew were kind and caring throughout the climb--extremely patient with our endless photography and our varying paces. They made sure that we not only successfully reached Point Lenana summit, but had incredible experiences all along the way. Chief was a joy to converse with, and very willing to help me with my Swahili-learning endeavors. We felt very safe throughout the treks in their company. The camp sites were fully set up for us and were ideally located. Throughout the journey we rarely encountered other climbers/guides--felt like the mountain was ours :). The food we were served was exquisite especially considering what it took to get it there, and we never lost our appetites. 🙂 Dunstun made the many-hour journey with his driver to Nairobi to pick us up at the beginning, and to drop us off at the end. He has a very sweet and wonderful nature, and I've been heartily recommending him to all my Africa-curious friends.
