Embark on an unforgettable 8-day adventure to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route, also known as the “Whiskey Route.” This route is one of the most scenic and popular trails, offering breathtaking views, diverse landscapes, and a high success rate due to its favorable acclimatization profile. With experienced guides, well-planned campsites, and a supportive team, this journey will take you through lush rainforests, alpine deserts, and the snow-capped peak of Africa’s tallest mountain Uhuru Peak.
The Machame Route is a challenging but rewarding trek that takes you through varying ecological zones, from dense rainforest to barren alpine landscapes. The trek begins at Machame Gate and ascends steadily, allowing for proper acclimatization. You will hike through scenic campsites, including Machame Camp, Shira Camp, and Barranco Camp, before reaching Barafu Camp, the final stop before your summit push. The descent follows the Mweka Route, ensuring a smooth and safe return. This hike is ideal for adventure seekers looking to challenge themselves while experiencing the beauty of Kilimanjaro.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our team and transferred to Keys Hotel in Moshi. Here, you can rest, explore the town, and prepare for the trek ahead. Overnight stay at Keys Hotel (BB).
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Kilimanjaro National Park’s Machame Gate, a 45-minute journey passing through the scenic Machame village. The trek begins with a hike through the lush rainforest on a winding trail up a ridge. The trail can be muddy and slippery at lower elevations, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. After a 5-6 hour trek, you will arrive at Machame Camp, where you will spend the night.
